Still on the #naijabrandsrock initative today’s featured product is the Ease Cosmetics.
Ease by Maradarah is owned by Bukola Awotedu. She’s a Makeup Artist and Business executive who loves everything about colour and creativity.
She says that Makeup to her is far more than a career or hobby, it’s a passion a dream and vision.
A graduate of Media Makeup, Diploma in cosmetology and BSC in Creative Business Management where she graduated with Distinction. She has worked on counters for top cosmetic brands and had the opportunity to be Account Manager for Fashion Fair UK.
She then realised there is a gap for Ethnic cosmetics which birthed the idea of Ease a makeup brand specially designed for women of colour.
Initial Impression / Branding
I received four of their liquid lipsticks to review. The packaging was really impressive as well as the actual branding. It dosen’t look like something that was locally printed rather that they were branded from the actual manufacturer. The labels with the names all had the website www.maradarah.com on them which was also a bonus because it shows that the were again not off the ready made shelf.
I like their slogan ‘Light up your smile with Ease.’ It’s pretty catchy but the best part is when you open up the pack you realize that the lip glosses all contain a Led Light inside the lid as well as a little mirror on the side of the container. This is super handy when you’re out at night. I’ve seen other brands over the last few years with this particular packaging but I think this is the first Nigerian brand i’ve come across to release their own version.
The lipsticks have a wide range of colours from wearable everyday shades to more dramatic alternative ones which would be great for photoshoots.
The LED Light is quite bright but you need to be careful. The first time I used mine I didn’t screw the lid back on properly so the battery died *sob*
The lipsticks themselves vary in thickness. They go on like a liquid lipstick but feel more like a very long lasting gloss. They do dry matte though but they’re not as difficult to scrub off as some other brands i’ve tried. The purple rain and cocoa went on really well with great coverage with just one layer, but the “Deep” would probably need about 2 to 3 depending on how Deep you actually want it. heehhe.. The Cocoa shade also looks super dark but when it dries it turns a little bit softer which i thought was quite nice.
It is a bit gummy on the lips until it fully dries but again, it dosen’t dry as cracky looking so perfect for those who don’t want their lips to look like the Sahara Desert!! I always advise people to use a good moisturiser on their lips before using any liquid lipstick so it’s great to know that they also have their own lipbalms in their cosmetics range.

Value for Money
N3500 is honestly really good value for what you’re getting. It’s not a gimick, the light really does work and the mirror is clear. I wish there was a way of turning off the light to save it just for night time use but hey.. i’m still loving it!
Their website unfortunately only shows prices in £ sterling but don’t worry they do have a physical store in Lagos which they launched some time ago.
Would I recommend this product to other people.. yes.. would I stock it in my store.. yup yup!
The only thing I would warn though is when the light runs out you do feel a little bit sad because it’s so handy. I’d really use them more for my going out at night lipsticks rather than my daytime ones so that I don’t waste the battery. LOL..but then that’s just me. I just hope Tallulah dosen’t find them (I had to hide them away). That light and mirror is irresistible to a 3 year old!
So if you’d like to find out for yourself why i’m so excited about these products, we have a fabulous gift bag up for grabs for one lucky winner!! All you have to do to stand a chance of winning.
