So, what did I think of their products??
Initial Impression / Branding
Despite still being a new brand, Mint Organic Care has a nice a clean brand identity. In line with their name, their labels are a mint green with white writing in a clean non-fussy design. Perfect for a natural skincare brand.
The boxes the products were delivered to me in were cute and well presented, with a ribbon in mint, their signature colour. It’s not common to see mint coloured ribbon in Nigeria, so I found this was a nice touch.
Mint Organic Care reminds me of Lush, the American handmade cosmetics company. The names of the products sound so yummy and scrumptious like deserts; Blueberry Cheesecake Body Butter, Coco Orange & Cardamom Body Butter and Coconut & Lime Face & Body Scrubs, just yasss! You might think that given the yummy sounding names the smells would be sickly sweet, or maybe even artificial smelling, but this is not the case. The Coco Orange & Cardamom Body Butter for example, literally smells like the orange chocolate candies you get in a assorted box of chocolates!
I was sent a selection of scrubs, body butters and bar soaps to test, and first up was the face and body scrub. Now, i’m the kind of person that wants the scrub to do it’s job the first time I use it, and the Mint Organic Care scrub did not disappoint. The Pink Grapefruit one was light and citrusy, and happens to be one of my absolute favourite scents. Using it, I found it gave a good level of exfoliation without it feeling too abrasive. Afterwards, my skin felt silky soft and nicely moisturised due to the grapeseed oils in the scrub.
I followed the scrub with the Coco Orange & Cardamom Body Butter. The first thing I have to say was never before have you seen a body butter so light! It was easy to both get from the container and work into the skin, you didn’t have to rub it in excessively like how you have to with whipped shea butter for example. It had a rich coco scent, which for me was slightly overpowering (I don’t really like chocolate, weird I know!), but all chocolate lovers would absolutely love how it smells. It was nice and moisturising without being too dense or heavy.
Lastly I used the Creamy Coconut Milk soap bar as I wanted to see how effective it was in cleansing the skin and removing oils. I must say I was a bit dubious as I’m not big on soap bars and can’t remember the last time I used one, however, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did it have a gentle coconut scent, but it gave a lovely creamy lather that was super moisturising! I used the soap on my hands and didn’t have to use hand lotion afterwards, this almost never happens for me!
