Initial Impression / Branding

Everything about this brand screams quality. You can tell that this wasn’t an overnight thought. It would’ve taken a long time to put together all the elements, the details, the way the product packaging looked.  It screams “I am a brand” not “I printed my name on a box and repackaged my products using stickers”

Product Quality

Before you’ve even tried the products you’re already expecting alot from them.   After a quick discussion I informed them that I had normal combination skin and had aging concerns.  (That big 40 is not far off lol).

I received two products to test and two for the giveaway.

The Anti Aging C+ Serum

Oriki nigerian beauty brand c-serum-bottle_large

Resist aging and free radicals with the goodness of Vitamin C! L-Ascorbic Acid, high potency plant-based Hyaluronic Acid along with rich Bioflavonoids, which is designed to resist environmental factors and aggressors that diminish the appearance of your skin.

My first concern was the colour.  I’m a bit fussy about the way products appear, feel and smell.  But once I tried it on it easily absorbed into the skin without any sticky residue.  It also didn’t leave my skin feeling tight.

Revitalizing Q10 Day Moisturiser with Avocado

The product states that it’s a rejuvenating creme that offers long-lasting hydration without leaving skin feeling greasy. Revitalizing Co-Enzyme Q10 fortifies the humectant benefits of Organic Sunflower and Jojoba Oils. Fresh Basil, Raspberry and Rosehip Oils make this creme the perfect choice for all skin types that desire a vibrant complexion. Rapid absorption makes this creme an ideal choice for those who apply foundation or matte powders.

Again.. when I saw a green cream I was a bit like *eeww*.. It reminded me of something that my mum would use. But then I remembered that I am now also a mum and it’s a natural product with Avocado lol.   The thing is when I usually see Green I associate it with products created for oily skins. Alot of mattifying products are green gel/cream textures.  So I was worried that it might leave my skin feeling a bit too dry.   However, it was actually quite the opposite.  The cream was rather heavy and I could feel it on the skin quite some time after i’d massaged it in.   It’s quite a heavy rich cream.  I’d prefer to use it as a night cream vs during the day but it really does what it says on the box and it would offer a good level of hydration thoughout the day so that your makeup dosen’t look too flat.  But if you prefer a lighter cream you could also try the “Illuminator” or the “Licorice Mattiyfying Oil Blotting Moisturiser”.

Value for Money

The serum retails for N9,500  and the cream is priced at N9,300 which in the grand scheme of things isn’t that expensive.  A few years ago I might have been a bit hesitant but in today’s economy, when you compare the prices of premium products available i’d readily buy this product over some of the international brands out there.  You wouldn’t be able to buy natural luxury products at this price in London that’s for sure.

Final Verdict

I did really like the whole vibe and look of the brand. It’s affordable luxury.  I would like to have seen more of an “african” inspiration in the ingredients considering the name but I also understand that they’re bringing international quality and ingredients which aren’t locally available and not all locally sourced ingredients are able to tackle particular skin care issues.

Either way.  I like them and i’d definately love to try out their spa.  I’m already imagining that it’s fabulous!!
