Hey Guys

Hope you’ve had a fabulous start to 2017!  Now that the dust has settled and January is officially over (gosh dosen’t time really fly by!!), we’re really excited to announce the launch of

“The Beauty List”

*Quick..Grab your popcorn and pull up a chair, because all you beauty lovers invited to join in this chat*

Right, so here’s how it works.

The Beauty List is a monthly award of my top 5 products of the month.  At the end of the year, there’ll be a 2017 Award which will recognise the best of the best in a variety of categories.

I kind of see it as my Best of The Month, Must Have Items, You Really Should Try These Out recommendations.

“The Beauty List” awards specific products not individual brands.

Products must be available for purchase within Nigeria.

Both International and Locally owned Brands are eligible for consideration as the List is aimed at promoting and celebrating our growing Beauty Industry. We launched an initiative dedicated to promoting and showcasing Nigerian Owned Brands #naijabrandsrock. We are dedicated to this cause but our industry is opening up and the world is now realizing that Nigeria is a Beauty Destination and major brands are investing and setting up not just in Lagos, but in Abuja and other major cities across the country. Therefore it’s only right that we acknowledge all the amazing products that you can officially buy right here without flying across the world or importing in.

International Brands must be legally represented in Nigeria either by a branded franchise or an official distributor. International Products and Brands available in the country without official representation will not be eligible for entry onto the List and/or public vote.

The list covers the best of Makeup, Beauty & Hair.

I’d love all my beauty lovers out there to also suggest products that you think are absolutely fabulous and that you can’t live without so that we can go off in search of them and put them under the test of a panel of expert judges.

The Beauty List will be published at the end of every month.  There will be 11 Lists with the 12th being an end of year Award.

Submission for Review & Guidelines

Brands are invited to submit any products that they would like to be reviewed generally on The B&F Collective site or specifically to The Beauty Insider for The Beauty List.  It is not however guaranteed that a product submitted for review will be chosen to be awarded and if they are, it will only be after a period of at least 1 month’s use in order to be able to fully assess the pros and cons of each item.  Therefore if it is chosen it may not be mentioned for at least 2 to 3 months if at all.    Any products sent for general review may also be considered for The Beauty List if after the initial review we find that it really is a ‘must have’ item.

It is important to be very transparent that The B&F Collective does offer paid for advertising.  Adverts will be clearly marked either in the form of banners or advertorial features. The Beauty Insider however does NOT accept paid submissions for The Beauty List.

If a product or brand has paid for an advert on our site, that does not translate to automatic inclusion for an Award.  Also it is not only brands/products that we have received for free in return for a review or that we have been paid to review that are eligible for the list.  Products that we have found ourselves or that we have paid for ourselves will also be eligible.

Public Reviews

We do encourage readers to join in the conversation and also rate any products that we have generally reviewed.  However, these reviews and ratings need to be based upon your own personal experiences not on opinon of the brand or if someone else has used it and told you about it. We really do want our general reviews to be interactive.  The Beauty List monthly award won’t be open to public votes.  But comments are very welcome.

I hope you guys are as excited as I am!!

Stay tuned for the very first list ‘January 2017’.. coming up soon!!

I’m sorry but I don’t get the ‘specific products not individual brands’

Hey hun, thanks for your feedback. It basically means that like the January list it’s The Stick Foundation from Bobbi Brown that won an award not Bobbi Brown Cosmetics as a whole that was nominated. We test out and review products. That way at the end of year awards we’re not giving awards to companies based on their popularity we’re looking at “The Best Stick Foundation” and “The Best Liquid Foundation” and “The Best Liquid Lipstick” or “The Best Cream Lipstick” etc. Different companies can win awards for a wider range of categories not just a handful of winners.

Hope that makes more sense now?
